It is to the sound of Brazilian artist Gonzaguinha that Jo\u00e3o Pimenta opens what would be the penultimate presentation of his career and his last lecture on national soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Controversial and perhaps therefore misunderstood, Jo\u00e3o Pimenta’s first words reinforce an idea from Manuel Bandeira’s poem: A paix\u00e3o dos suicidas que se matam sem explica\u00e7\u00e3o [The passion of the suicidal who kill themselves without explanation]. “That’s what I came here today to do, commit suicide without explanation. As fate would have it, my last lecture in Portugal would be here in Barcelos, the land that adopted me and cherished me. I am very happy with it,” reveals Jo\u00e3o Pimenta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without mincing his words, Pimenta thanks “the little minds” that did not allow the event “to be done in another context,” alluding that it was not the case of Miguel Pav\u00e3o, chairman of the Order of Dentists, who was present in Barcelos for the national farewell of the illustrious dentist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
