23 May 2001 marks the beginning of the Cl\u00ednica\nde Medicina Dent\u00e1ria Albertina Alves, a “small-sized clinic exclusively\ndedicated to dental medicine”. However, 2009 marked an important milestone\nin this history, with the expansion of the facilities “with the aim of\ndiversifying the services and improving the physical conditions of the\nclinic”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Albertina Alves, the philosophy\nof the clinic “has always been to be close to the patient, planning their\ntreatment in a personalised manner with the help of a solid and dedicated\nteam”, hence the need to expand the space and also the services. With this\nchange, the clinic now offers Podiatry, Traditional Chinese Medicine and\nPsychology services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the clinical director, these specialties\nare an asset, since “dental clinics provide specialised and local\nhealthcare. In these spaces other physical and mental needs are often shared.\nBy having other specialties, the clinics not only reinforce the proximity of\nthe care provided but also encourage humanisation and convey the idea of a\nclinic centred on the person as a whole (body and mind). An example of this\ncomplementarity is the problems of Bruxism and TMJ associated with anxiety\nproblems as well as postural problems allowing a multidisciplinary intervention\nto be predictive of greater success in resolving clinical cases”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding expectations for the future,\nAlbertina Alves says that they want to be “increasingly innovative,\nfulfilling the mission of taking better care of the oral and general health of\npatients”, being aware “of how challenging the health area is in the\npressing need to update and adapt to changes in lifestyle”. As for the\nfuture of the sector, the clinical director mentions that “there is a lot\nof work to do with the population in terms of prevention, treatment and\nrehabilitation”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
