José Torres, dental prosthetics technician, explains how he founded Dentalmar, a laboratory based in Aver-o-Mar, creating a company that combines CAD-CAM technology, 3D printing, and close support for clinicians. In this interview, he shares his passion for prosthetics, the company philosophy, certifications, and the continuous focus on digital innovation, sustainability, and quality.
How and when was Dentalmar founded? Can you tell us your story?
After several years as a sole proprietor, I established the company together with my wife. Dentalmar was founded in 1992; the name reflects our location by the sea and the town of Aver-o-Mar. We are a laboratory that combines technology with close and personalized support for dental professionals. Over the years, Dentalmar has grown steadily while always maintaining the same principles: quality, close relationships with clinicians, and a commitment to patient well-being.
How is your team structured, and what are the main skills you value?
Our team is composed of specialized technicians, organized by different areas and stages of prosthetic execution, allowing greater efficiency, precision, and quality in the final work. We are mainly divided into the following areas: fixed prosthetics (on teeth and implants), removable acrylic and skeletal prosthetics, and orthodontics. Above all, we value technical rigor, adaptability, teamwork, and, of course, empathy, both internally and in our relationships with clinical partners. At Dentalmar, we believe that talent only makes sense when accompanied by human values.
How has the company evolved over the years, and what have been the main changes or innovations implemented?
Dentalmar prioritizes quality and predictability in its work. These factors are intrinsically linked to technology, and we began our migration to digital nearly 20 years ago. For this reason, the digital boom in dental medicine did not catch us by surprise, as it was already a well-established reality in our laboratory.
