SMD Meets with A3ES Board of Directors

At the institutional meeting between the Dentists’ Union [“Sindicato dos Médicos Dentistas” – SMD] and the Board of Directors of the Higher Education Assessment and Accreditation Agency [“Agência de Avaliação e Acreditação Do Ensino Superior” – A3ES], the “issue of professional vacancies in some institutions, which clearly contributes to poor quality teaching,” was addressed, according to a digital publication by the SMD.

In a meeting in which “important commitments were agreed”, the SMD emphasised “the lack of regulation [within the sector] that has prevailed over the last decade”, thus allowing the number of “dentists to double”, while also “demanding” that “the available tools be used to amend the situation”.

This institutional meeting was attended by representatives of the SMD, namely, João Neto, Isabel Banza and Teresa Eliseu.
