The infrastructure, financially supported by the EAO – European Association of Osteointegration, Serpa City Council and Portuguese Cooperation, was the result of a partnership between Mundo a Sorrir, the Caué Health Delegation, the General Command of the São Tomé and Príncipe National Police and the Caué District Council.
Caué, located in the south of São Tomé and Príncipe, is one of the most deprived districts in the country. Access to oral health care is not available to the entire population, both because there is no stomatology service in the district and because of the distance to this health care in a public service. The aim is to reverse this situation and ensure that the population has access to oral health care in a space with all the necessary conditions for good clinical practice.
“The Gabinete Dentário de Angolares is a clinic owned by everyone and for everyone. A significant number of private patrons, Portuguese and international companies, have come together to make this project a reality”, said Mariana Dolores, President of Mundo A Sorrir. The Portuguese community of dental companies, namely Utrade, Foquim Dental, Ravagnani, Inibsa, Montellano, and various dental clinics, as well as Nativa-Grupo Paiva, Rangel Logistics Solutions, and Barbot, have come together to support Mundo A Sorrir in this purpose.
The inauguration session was attended by the Portuguese Ambassador in São Tomé and Principe, Cristina Moniz, all the project partners, and other local interlocutors.
