The current Dean of the Egas Moniz School of Health & Science was appointed President of the EAO—European Association for Osseointegration—during the last meeting held between October 24 and 26 in Milan, Italy.
Gil Alcoforado was awarded the 2019-20 Distinguished Service Award for Dentistry by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) in recognition of his work for the federation.
Rector of the Egas Moniz University Institute, Gil Alcoforado graduated in Dental Medicine from the University of Lisbon in 1980 and completed his specialization in Periodontology at the University of Bergen in Norway in 1983. He completed his doctorate in Periodontology in 1995.
Gil Alcoforado recently won the prize in the Periodontology category at the DentalPro Best Dentist Awards, an initiative organized by DentalPro magazine to honor the excellent work of Portuguese dentists.
