The number of dentists in Portugal has almost doubled since 2010
At the end of the 2021, the Ordem dos Médicos Dentistas (OMD) [Dentists’ Association] was made up of 12,235 actively registered professionals practising in Portugal, almost double the amount registered in 2010, when the number was only 6,905. In 2021, in comparison to the year before, the number of actively practising dentists in Portugal increased by 5.1%. Stated by João Neto, President of the Sindicato dos Médicos Dentistas (SMD) , who talked to DentalPro about the various initiatives planned, and already underway, also assessing the training and the subject of protection against radiation.

In a conversation with DentalPro, Paulo Melo, current Head of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Universidade do Porto (FMDUP), revealed some of the goals for the mandate and says he has had the vital support of the whole faculty, professors, students and non-teaching staff.
