“Transparent aligner treatments are a differentiating factor”
Pedro Costa-Monteiro believes that change is “in full swing” and that treatments with transparent aligners are the future and will bring numerous advantages.
“We think that early identification of PMOCs is crucial”
Luís Silva, Luís Monteiro and Rui Albuquerque spoke to DentalPro about OPMDcare, a European project to promote information on Potentially Malignant Oral Changes (PMOCs). “The main objective is to provide up-to-date guidance to doctors who see patients with these changes affecting the oral cavity.” To this end, a digital platform for information and knowledge exchange has been created: OPMD Healthcare Professional Training.
“They are all different cases and, for me, they are all special cases!”
With experience in the treatment, without the need for sedation, of autistic children, Tânia Lourenço, founder of Clínica Dental Mind, argues that this option avoids the use of other drugs that can be more harmful to the body, and is ultimately less complex. On the other hand, “it allows the patient to develop greater control of his behaviour during the medical appointment, as well as an awareness as to the importance of changing daily habits to ensure good oral health”.

Catarina Magalhães is a dentist who has recently written her first book. Specifically dedicated to children, but also to their parents and carers, this book “shows what the experience of the first consultation looks like and gives details of a dental office”.
