Portuguese Healthcare System well ranked internationally

Portugal went up, from 2015 to 2016, six positions in an international ranking, the Euro Health Consumer Index (which compares the performance of the healthcare systems of 35 countries), and finished, for the first time, ahead of the United Kingdom and Spain.

Created by a Swedish organization, this rank considers a different point of view (that of the consumer), this yearly evaluation ranked Portugal in the 14th place, with 763 points out of 1000.

In the 2016 edition, Holland  was once again the country that gathered more points within the 48 indicators considered, reaching a total of 927 points out of 1000, on the other end of the scale was Romania that wasn’t able to gather more than 497 points. The Health Consumer Powerhouse (HCP) has been performing this analysis since 2005.
