The annual meeting of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Ortopedia Dento-Facial (SPODF) – Portuguese Society of Dento-facial Orthopedics is the main scientific event in the Portuguese calendar of Orthodontics. With the city of Vila Real as its background, the 29th edition will take place between the 16th and the 18th of March and it’s expected to be a success, as it was in previous years. The choosing of Vila Real, besides being the city where Eugénio Martins performs his clinical activity, was made because of socio-professional and cultural reasons.
“Vila Real is a city in the Trás-os-Montes region, headquarters of the corresponding municipality and district, and one of the most important cities in the province of Trás-os-Montes. The place chosen for the meeting was the Teatro de Vila Real (Vila Real Theatre), a space of excellence within the Parque do Corgo (Corgo Park), with a modern architecture and a privileged view over the park”, explains the dentist who has been a member of SPODF for over 20 years.
“It’s the first time this meeting will take place in the Trás-os-Montes region. The goal is to decentralize and take the meeting away from the big cities, such as Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon and invest in other possibilities. It is, thus a great chance for our colleagues to get to know the city of Vila Real and a little more of the Douro region”, added Eugénio Martins.
