Inmates with dentist in prison

Several Portuguese public and private organizations have signed protocols which will allow for the inmates of the Izeda Prison Establishment in the district of Bragança, to benefit from dental services within the prison itself.

This protocol involves the Unidade Local de Saúde (ULS) – Local Healthcare Unit of the Northeast region which will offer a professional to perform dental medicine visits in a space equipped by the prison services.

The deputy secretary of state for justice, Helena Mesquita Ribeiro, was present at the ceremony for the signing of the protocols and defended that caring for social reinsertion “is fundamental” in every aspect, especially in healthcare assistance, which without these partnerships, “would be done with many more difficulties”.
