With a career of almost 20 years in the field of dentistry, with collaborations in various groups, Lúcia Ramos fulfilled her dream of opening a space of her own, different to other dental practices, in which Roncopathy, nutrition and pneumology will also be treated. The ultimate goal, she says, is for everyone to feel comfortable, as if they were in their own home.
DentalPro: What led you to make the decision to open your first clinic?
Lúcia Ramos: I felt that it was time, at the level of my professional career, to have my own clinic. I want to include the best equipment in this space, always having the best services on offer to patients, with a better quality. That will be the main objective of the clinic.
DP: What kind of innovative services will be available for your patients?
LR: We are going to move forward with the Roncopathy project, which has had very little publicity in Portugal. Lots of people snore but are too afraid to come to terms with it. Apart from the psychological factor, they don’t feel comfortable bothering other people and end up not having a restorative sleep, they wake up tired and have difficulty concentrating. In this context, we will count on the support of Pneumology, because Dentistry manages to treat mild and moderate apnoea. In severe cases, we will have the support of a pneumologist in conjunction with a nutritionist as obese people usually have more difficulty breathing, with more fat in their respiratory zones. All this complements each other so that we can have the greatest success in the clinic.
