Portuguese research wins a prize from IADR

The work “The influence of a laser modified zirconia implant surface on human osteoblasts in vitro behavior” was distinguished at the International Congress for the European Division of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), which took place in September in Madrid.

The research, presented by dentist Beatriz Fernandes, won 1st place in the “Junior Robert Frank Award 2019”. It was developed in the cell culture laboratory of the Oral Biology and Biochemistry Research Group of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMDUL), under the coordination of António Mata and João Caramês and with the collaboration of Filipe Silva’s team. Minho’s university.

The award-winning research was also attended by researchers Mariana Cruz, Oscar Carvalho, Sara Madeira and Joana Marques. The work is part of a multicenter project, funded by the Science and Technology Foundation, which aims to develop and study new dental implant surfaces.

The Junior Robert Frank Award annually honors young researchers at European level who do research in the basic sciences and clinics of dentistry.
