MAS project honored with Honorable Mention

The Oral Health Support Center (CASO) project, promoted by the NGO Mundo A Sorrir (MAS), was honored with an Honorable Mention at the 13th Edition Meeting of the Good Health Practices Award (PBPS), which aims to make know the best practices, in order to replicate the added value for the good performance of the Health System.

The Oral Health Support Center, developed in Porto, Braga and Lisbon, consists of providing oral health care and psychosocial support to populations in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability, with a view to their social reintegration.

The social response, which has already benefited 7,292 people, has performed 75,965 treatments and placed 2,561 dental prostheses, is complementary to the public and private responses in Portugal, since there is no overlap with any other existing solution.

The main differentiating factor of the C.A.S.O. It is undoubtedly oral rehabilitation with dental prosthesis, contributing to the increase of self-esteem, well-being and quality of life of the beneficiaries.

The 13th PBPS Meeting, which took place in the Auditorium of the Judicial Police headquarters building in Lisbon, is organized by the Portuguese Association for Hospital Development in partnership with the Directorate-General for Health, the Central Administration of the Health System and the Regional Health Administrations and in collaboration with the Azores Regional Health Directorate and the Madeira Regional Health Secretariat.
