(AIMD) will take place in Coimbra. Founded by the dentist Nuno Meneses Gonçalves, AIMD is an associative organization whose main focus is the defense of the interests of dentists and of patients who look for them to care for their oral health.

Speaking to DentalPro, Nuno Meneses Gonçalves assumed that “this association arises following the inactivity of the Ordem dos Médicos Dentistas (OMD) in resolving some pressing issues in our profession, with the argument – which is legitimate – that they cannot take a position in certain matters”. He added that “this association, similarly to what already exists in other professional areas, will have another legitimacy to discuss this type of issues, namely in terms of dialogue with public institutions and political agents, from the moment it is recognized by the OMD. Therefore, it is an association that is being worked on to make this fight in the public space by its members. We want to start gaining strength to ‘stamp our feet’ in certain situations that concern us”.

In this way, Nuno Meneses Gonçalves is a candidate for president of the board of AIMD, dentist Rute Miranda is running for president of the fiscal council and dentist Jorge Sousa for president of the general meeting. “With our project, we want to make noise, put pressure on institutions and be a vehicle of mobilization of all dentists who do not agree with the current circumstances and who want a voice for change”.
