SOL – Serviço Odontopediátrico de Lisboa (Lisbon Paediatric Dentistry Service), of the SCML – Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, was founded around a year ago. In a statement made on Facebook, the leaders said that “ratherthan making an assessment, especially in a very difficult and unusual year, it’s important to reiterate the innovative and pioneering nature of this service, which seeks to spread the idea that oral health is a right”
They add: “The current government’s response remain largely inadequate and socially unequal, leaving too many people without access to oral health care. Coordinating oral and public health priorities with education, literacy and research is the way to achieve universal access to quality oral healthcare with a focus on disease prevention, favoring early care and an educational approach. That’s our mission! Always, for the good causes”.
