Stomatologist António Mano Azul is the new Portuguese representative in the Council of European Chief Dental Officers (CECDO). This body aims to investigate and debate oral health issues concerning the member countries of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).

CECDO is made up of individuals appointed by each member of the EU, by EEA countries and by nations outside the EU / EEA, who advise national governments, the Commission and other stakeholders on issues affecting oral health.

António Mano Azul was appointed representative of CECDO by order of the Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales, after his name being suggested by the Director-General of Health, Graça Freitas. The stomatologist succeeds Rui Manuel Domingues Caldo and took office on 14 August.
