João Caramês in interview

What is your assessment of your mandate so far?

I accepted this challenge in a period of particular uncertainty due to the pandemic we are experiencing. I remember that it was a rare and atypical moment in the exercise and teaching of our profession. I accepted the mandate with the expectation that it would always be possible to overcome moments of crisis positively. Thanks to the work of a management team, we were able to face difficulties as challenges, we balanced ambition with sustainability and brought together, as always, the effort and merit of the entire academic community that makes up the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Lisbon. With this vision and strategy we have been able to achieve important objectives in recent months.

During this period, in addition to the pioneering Digital City project that allows us to consolidate the curricular transition strategy to the digital aspect, modernize facilities and equipment and continue transversal and articulated training between the various areas of dentistry, dental prosthetics and hygiene oral, we also invested in sustainability. Through an application to the European program for sustainability, the already known approval of this application makes it possible to review the energy efficiency of the FMDUL building as a priority.
