The nomination derives from the Deliberation nº 003/2024, signed by the SNS’s executive director, Fernando Araujo, that still defines the terms of the creation of a National Oral Health Coordination in the National Health Service (CNO-SNS).
Following the document, stated by the OMD, the National Health Service’s Executive Management (DE-SNS) is going to operationalize the suggestions in the “Relatório Saude Oral em Portugal” in the following areas: Epidemiology; Central Organization; Oral Health Services; Human Resources; Infrastructures; Information Systems; Access and Monitoring.
The document, presented last December, determines “the fundamentals of the SNS’s strategy to reinforce the answer capacity and the Portuguese population’s access to oral health cares with a horizon until 2026”.
Besides José Frias Bulhosa, until now member of the Ethics and Disciplinary Council of the Dental Doctors Order, the CNO-SNS will also be made up of:
Francisco João Salvado e Silva (Senior Graduated Assistant in Stomatology, at the Local Health Unit of Santa Maria), Sabina Ribeiro Ramalho (Senior Technician in the Areas of Diagnosis and Therapy, Specialist in Oral Hygiene, at the Local Health Unit of the West), Catarina de Carvalho Nunes Gomes de Almeida (Specialist in General and Family Medicine, at the Local Health Unit of Amadora/Sintra), Filipa Macedo Malcata (Specialist in Public Health, at the Local Health Unit of São João) and Rafael Costa Simões de Vasconcelos (Internal Doctor in Public Health, at the Local Health Unit of the Region of Leiria).
