Ana Sofia Lopes runs for chairwoman of the OMD

Ana Sofia Lopes considers the main challenges of her candidacy to be tackling the lack of access to oral health care, the emigration of young dentists, poor working conditions and the proliferation of low-priced health plans that jeopardise the quality of treatment. As a result, he wants to provide the Portuguese Dental Association with the capacity, will and efficiency to resolve these problems.

In her programme for the OMD, Ana Sofia Lopes proposes guaranteeing the quality and universality of oral health, valuing dentists and combating precarious work. Her candidacy also focuses on creating an attractive career in the NHS, defending dentists’ rights, strengthening the regulation of the profession and modernising the Order.

Ana Sofia Lopes also proposes “the integration of dentists with a defined career in the National Health Service, to defend their rights and counteract precarious work. It is also necessary for patients to have access to the universal right to medical and dental treatment in the NHS. To fight for the simplification of bureaucracy in clinics, such as the rules on imaging, when they are reverted from European Union legislation to Portuguese law. It also advocates strengthening the regulation of the profession without forgetting to bring the Order closer to its dentists.”

The candidate intends to be “the President of change and unity” and invites all dentists to join the project. “Count on me! I intend to mark my term in office with a project that is carried out with the utmost dedication and, above all, is credible. For all of us!” The candidate is counting on a “credible, experienced, motivated and united” team so that the Portuguese Dental Association can respond to the challenges of dentistry in the 21st century.

The candidate has created a site to spread her message-https://darvozaosmedicosdentistas.pt and email as well- darvozaosmedicosdentistas@gmail.com for colleagues to share the distresses, anxieties, and aspirations.
