Osstem signs memoranda with FMDUP and the Periodontology Institute of FMUC

Osstem Implant Portugal has signed two Memoranda of Understanding with two leading institutions in dental education and research: the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Porto (FMDUP) and the Institute of Periodontology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (FMUC).

The memoranda pave the way for closer cooperation between industry, university and clinical practice, with a focus on education, training, scientific research and clinical development.

Clinical training in Porto

In the case of FMDUP, the agreement centres on training and academic development. Activities that may be promoted include hands-on training sessions, workshops, seminars, clinical simulation and postgraduate training. The memorandum also provides for international cooperation and academic exchange initiatives.

Research in Coimbra

In Coimbra, the protocol with the Institute of Periodontology sets out a framework for scientific, clinical and academic cooperation. Research is expected to focus on implantology, periodontology, regenerative biomaterials, implant surfaces and oral rehabilitation.

The partnership may include clinical studies and research projects, as well as the production of scientific evidence. Results may be disseminated through publications and scientific meetings.

Connecting academia and clinical practice

With the two agreements, Osstem Implant Portugal says it wants to contribute to an ecosystem of knowledge sharing and to the continuing education of professionals, keeping pace with developments in dentistry and implantology.

The memoranda of understanding set out intentions and areas of collaboration, without detailing, for now, specific projects, timelines or associated investment.
