Luís Monteiro participated in the new classification of potentially malignant lesions of the Collaborative Oral Cancer Centre of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The new nomenclature of potentially malignant oral lesions was recently carried out in the global workshop “Expert Symposium on Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders (OPMDs)”, promoted by the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Oral Cancer.
The workshop was attended by a number of experts from several countries, including names like Edward Odell (United Kingdom), Fernanda Weber Mello (Brazil), Graham Ogden (United Kingdom), Jose M. Aguirre (Spain), Miguel Gonzalez Moles (Spain), Newell Johnson (Australia), Phil Sloan (United Kingdom), Saman Warnakulasuriya (United Kingdom), Ross Kerr (USA) and, for the first time, Portuguese dentist, Luís Monteiro.
