Dental clinics could reopen, but with many rules

The Directorate-General for Health (DGS) recently revealed what measures should be taken in primary health care clinics, offices, or oral health services in the public and private sector in the deconfinement phase. In fact, the document issued by the DGS, which takes effect on May 4, provides for “additional measures that must be taken to ensure that the transmission of this virus is minimized.

The health authority considers that, because of their proximity to patients, these “oral health professionals are exposed to respiratory droplets and aerosols”, making the consultation office “a potential source of virus transmission”. The industry is subjected to appointments booked in advance by phone or email and patients must wear a mask before being seen by the dentist.
