OMD sent a letter to Cristiano Ronaldo, congratulating him for the gesture in the press conference, where he exchanged the Coca-Cola bottles for water. The OMD acclaims the attitude of the Portuguese star that promotes healthy habits.
It was at the preview of
the debut of Portugal in Euro2020 that Cristiano Ronaldo starred in a moment that went viral: the captain of the National Team removed from
the table two bottles of one of the sponsors of the European championship, Coca-Cola, and preferred water.
“This action did not go unnoticed by the Order of Dentists and the OMD’s chairman took the opportunity to send a letter of thanks to the Portuguese football star for a gesture that “will have repercussions for the health of millions of children and young people”, can be read on the OMD’s website.
Miguel Pavão took the opportunity to highlight in the letter that “sugary drinks are consumed in excess by the younger generations, particularly children, causing many associated diseases such as obesity, diabetes and oral problems”.
In the letter, the Portuguese Dental Association congratulates Cristiano Ronaldo for the message transmitted, which serves as a warning to the fact that “inadequate eating habits, such as excessive intake of simple or added sugar, and promoted by the food industry, are one of the main risk factors for dental caries, which is one of the most prevalent non-transmissible diseases worldwide”.
In conclusion, Miguel Pavão launched a challenge to CR7: to continue to appeal to good healthy habits, “which includes daily brushing”.
