Novaclinica, based in Beja, celebrated its 21st anniversary on 16th February. The occasion also served to show the most recent refurbishment of the clinic, all in support of the well-being of patients of Baixo Alentejo. Heloísa Alves, a dentist with specialist practice in orthodontics and CEO and clinical director of Novaclinica, spoke with DentalPro about this special day.

To mark World Oral Health Day, the OralMED Health Group’s dental clinics brought their medical teams together on a special initiative: the creation of an oral health library.

The dental care offices have been operating since the end of February in the health centres of Caldas da Rainha, Alcobaça and Óbidos, the first three of the Western North Group of Health Centres (ACES) to provide that area of expertise to patients, the ARSLVT said.

Orlando Monteiro da Silva, President of the Ordem dos Médicos Dentistas (OMD), was unanimously elected President of FEDCAR – Federation of European Dental Competent Authorities and Regulators. It is an organisation that brings together orders, associations and other bodies that regulate, register and supervise dentistry.

Oral tumours are the sixth more common type of cancer in Portugal. However, it is still frequently forgotten and few Portuguese know that, similarly to breast cancer, there is also a self-exam that can help identifying lesions in due time.
